Scientific Researcher - Aspetar

Eirik Halvorsen Wik is a Scientific Researcher with the Aspetar Sports Injury and Illness Prevention Programme (ASPREV). He completed his PhD in 2021 through a collaborative project between Aspetar, Aspire Academy and the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center (Norway), examining injury patterns in youth athletes. After his PhD, he spent 3.5 years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, focusing on research relating to youth athletic development and injury prevention in youth, Para and university sports. He has worked as a physical performance coach in the Norwegian female top division and as a part-time sport scientist with Stellenbosch Football Club in the Premier Soccer League of South Africa. He is also part of a Norwegian FA working group advising clubs and national teams on topics relating to growth and maturation of young athletes.
