in Jan 2017, Qatar University (QU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (Aspetar) to establish collaboration in the field of medical education and research, 

In the terms of the agreement, Aspetar will provide highly qualified international faculty to educate QU medical students in Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) at Aspetar clinics. Faculty from QU and Aspetar will also work jointly to establish an undergraduate SEM curriculum for medical students.

Other areas of collaboration include the joint provision of Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development programs to benefit local and regional health care practitioners, as well as joint research projects in relevant areas.
