Prof. Elisabet Hagert is a world-renowned hand, wrist, and peripheral nerve surgeon from Stockholm, Sweden. She completed her postdoctoral training at Stanford University, USA, and is a dual board-certified hand and orthopaedic surgeon. Prof. Hagert is also a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at Qatar University, has over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters in international textbooks, and is ranked in the world's top 2% of scientists in her field. She is a popular speaker and teacher, with over 250+ conference contributions and international presentations.
Prof. Hagert’s field of expertise includes hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, hand and wrist arthroscopy, and peripheral nerve surgery. She is a globally recognised specialist in diagnosing and treating pain, peripheral nerve compressions, and wrist disorders. Prof. Hagert has served as hand surgery consultant to the Swedish Olympic Committee and the world’s first Centre of Excellence in Tennis Medicine, at H.M. Queen Sophia Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden.
Prof Hagert is also a member of several professional organisations, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association of Hand Surgery, the International Wrist Arthroscopy Society, and the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand.
In addition to her contributions to hand surgery, Prof Hagert has pioneered the use of wide-awake hand surgery for nerve and wrist interventions, the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostics and treatment, and the interaction between hand surgeons and hand therapists in the application of proprioceptive training techniques.
