Aspetar is the first healthcare organisation in the world to achieve a perfect score on International Standards of Accreditation Canada

Aspetar, the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, has been awarded the official Accreditation Canada Diamond Level Status today in a ceremony at the hospital’s headquarters in Doha.

Re-accredited at Diamond Level until Nov 2024, Aspetar became the first healthcare organisation in the world to achieve a perfect score on Version 4 of the Qmentum International™ Standards. As a result, Accreditation Canada’s Accreditation Decision Committee (ADC) has re-awarded Diamond Level Status to Aspetar, the highest level of recognition. More than 35 countries and 15,000 healthcare sites use Accreditation Canada programs.  

Accreditation Canada surveyors commended Aspetar on achieving 100% compliance to the 1,166 standards criteria during their November 2021 accreditation survey visit.  A unique characteristic of the Qmentum International Accreditation program is the ease with which the principles of accreditation and ongoing quality improvement can be integrated into operations and services.

The ceremony was attended by several persons, including H.E Mrs. Stefanie McCollum, Ambassador of Canada to the State of Qatar, officials from the Canadian embassy, Accreditation Canada, and Aspetar.

H.E Stefanie McCollum, Ambassador of Canada to the State of Qatar, said, Congratulations to Aspetar for maintaining the Diamond level status, the highest level of recognition by Accreditation Canada, an organization that exemplifies the high quality that can be expected from Canada and whose accreditation standards are recognized in the global healthcare space. This achievement also demonstrates how Canada is currently supporting Qatar in meeting its goals outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar’s National Health Strategy. Accreditation Canada’s endorsement takes Aspetar one step closer to achieving its aim of providing a world-class service for the major sporting events. I wish that the Qatar 2022 World Cup will achieve success on all levels.

Accreditation Canada is one of major accreditation bodies in the world which focuses exclusively on health care services and is acknowledged as among the most sought-after accreditation organisations for demonstrating a high level of compliance with rigorous standards. Successful facilities are awarded Gold, Platinum or Diamond status based on alignment to the criteria in the program.

In 2018, Aspetar was also awarded the Diamond Level Status under the Qmentum International Accreditation Program (Version 3).
