Doha -29th September 2014- Aspetar, member of Aspire Zone Foundation, announced the launch of a new website called "namat" (namat.qa) aimed at spreading the culture of health in the Arab community
The website provides information from Aspetar experts on various topics related to healthy lifestyle and behaviours for the prevention of non-communicable diseases resulting from physical inactivity
Dr Mohammed Ghaith Al Kuwari, director of Aspetar Healthy Lifestyles Programme said;
“The idea of creating a specialised physical activity website came about noticing the lack of sources related to physical activity especially in the Arab world. The website aims to provide the necessary information for the individual and society, and to deliver the latest health information and studies related to physical activity, nutrition and health matters".
“Namat website will be updated constantly by highly qualified experts, as well as from doctors prominent in different areas of Health Sciences and Sports Medicine” added Dr Mohammed Al Kuwari
Namat.qa is an open national and regional Public Health educational platform developed by the Aspetar Healthy Lifestyle Programme. It is designed to focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle and creating public awareness in Arabic communities about diseases related to unhealthy lifestyles and how they can be prevented. This website will publish scientific content and researches on healthy lifestyle and is aligned with the National Health Strategy 2011- 2016 and Qatar National Vision in 2030
Abdulla Saeed Al-Mohannadi, Health Promotion Researcher at Aspetar, said,
“We will work hard to deliver our message through this website, to be healthily dependent and a reliable reference on topics of physical activity and health on the Web, we are providing content on national physical activity guidelines for the State of Qatar, and will also allow experts and those involved in health sector to participate with scientific articles. Namat website will be an important resource for the community in finding credible health information and to promote physical activity and nutrition programmes in Qatar”.
Namat.qa platform enhances knowledge about best practice guidelines for physical activity and healthy eating, contributing to a sustainable change in positive lifestyle behaviours in Qatar and all Arabic societies.
The website is an interactive platform, in both Arabic and English languages providing various educational options for its members. The content is based on the latest studies and research on physical activity, nutrition and health practices, comes up with more information about initiatives and programmes related to the health of society, children and special needs.
