Aspetar Hosts Major Shoulder Injury Course

Aspetar recently hosted the ‘3rd Intermediate Shoulder Arthroscopy Course’ this month as part of its partnership with Smith & Nephew. a world-leading company, attracting more than 30 top surgeons from large healthcare systems across the region. Chaired by Aspetar’s Chief of Surgery, Dr Philippe Landreau, the two-day course consisted of lectures and practical workshops, exploring the most cutting-edge techniques for treating shoulder injuries arthroscopically. During the two-day event, surgeons discussed innovative surgical arthroscopic techniques and learned more about recent medical advances from the leading experienced surgeons in shoulder reconstructive surgery. The conference was also an opportunity for Aspetar to share knowledge and collaborate on surgical advancement with neighbouring countries including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Noting the importance of the conference, Dr Philippe Landreau, Chief of Surgery at Aspetar and the Chairman of the conference, said,

“In just two days, this successful conference was able to teach and inspire all those in attendance including some surgeons with many years of experience in arthroscopic surgery”.

Dr Philippe, who specialises in traumatology, shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgeries, continued,

“I am confident that all those surgeons who attended the conference will look to collaborate even more over the coming years, and put into practice the various skills and methods discussed during this informative event”.

Aspetar’s Director General Dr Khalifa Al Kuwari commented about the hospital’s participation in the conference, saying:
