Aspetar Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital is hosting its second ‘Current Concept’ conference series with focus on the often neglected topic of the Athlete’s Elbow from December 3-4 at Aspetar, Doha.
The conference is set to feature latest presentations from a panel of distinguished international experts. The presenters will share their experience during a myriad of practical lectures and discussion events.
Also coming under the spotlight will be several important topics about elbow injuries. These will be led by the medical staff at Aspetar and highly-renowned guests such as Luigi Pederzini, chief of Orthopaedic and Arthroscopic Surgery, Italy, and Dr François Kelberine, orthopaedic surgeon, Aix-en-Provence, France.
The joint tends be to overlooked in today’s research compared to the knee, shoulder or ankle, making it a fascinating topic for interaction and analysis. The conference sessions are open to all those interested in study of the subject whether they are doctors, researchers, coaches or athletes.
Commenting on the upcoming conference, Aspetar director general, Dr Mohammad Al Maad’heed said:
“As part of our excellence program, we are happy to invite international experts to share their knowledge and experience with not only our staff but all the clinical staff of Qatar. The elbow pathology is a very specific and rare pathology and therefore it would be very interesting to learn from the renowned experts”.
Dr Philippe Landreau, chief of Surgery at Aspetar, said:
“The Aspetar current concepts started last year with the Athlete’s Knee. After the positive feedbacks of all the attendees, we decided to continue with a less frequently injured joint and which has its specific pathologies”.
An accredited FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence since 2009, Aspetar is at the forefront of advancing sports medicine through publications, organization of symposia and meetings on a variety of topics that are critical to athletes’ wellbeing.
