Ninety-seven healthcare organizations are currently accredited internationally by ACI, and only sixteen of those are accredited at Platinum status, with the remaining majority being accredited at the lower Gold status.  Aspetar is one of nine healthcare organizations that has achieved Platinum status on their first survey.  Whilst Aspetar is proud of this accomplishment, it is already in the planning process to obtain Diamond (highest) status in 3 years during a scheduled re-accreditation.

Aspetar is the first hospital of its kind in the region, and is accredited as a “FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence” by F-MARC and an “IOC Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health”.

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has been accrediting health care organizations around the world. Its comprehensive accreditation programs foster ongoing quality improvement through evidence-based standards and rigorous external peer review. The accreditation helps health care organizations improve their performance for the benefit of their clients and the health system

Commenting on the accreditation, Dr. Mohamed Ghaith Al Kuwari, Acting Director General of Aspetar, said:

Obtaining this prestigious accreditation reflects the advanced and developed level of Aspetar, whether in terms of medical staff and expertise or medical services and care, which make the hospital the preferred destination for the world’s elite athletes and clubs

The Platinum accreditation is considered an advanced achievement and comes second in the ACI accreditation system, which includes Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The accreditation process included a number of comprehensive evaluation procedures on the medical, administrative, financial and IT services and infrastructure levels.

Such an accreditation highlights the advanced development Aspetar has achieved since being established, and comes as an appreciation of the ongoing efforts of the hospital’s staff in making it the world’s leading sports medicine destination.
