ASPETAR participated in the internationally recognized “Advanced Knee Surgery Course”

Feb 19, 2012 - Two leading doctors from ASPETAR- Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, Dr. Philippe Landreau and Dr. Hakim Chalabi, played leading roles in the “Fourth Biennial Advanced Knee Surgery Course” held in France recently. This renowned course has started 8 years ago, and it is held every two years in France, bringing together some elite knee surgeons from around the world to provide high-level education and training for 150 surgeons coming from different countries including Middle East. The specific topics that were discussed this year during a period of 5 days are: Stiff knee, Posterior Cruciate Ligament, Multiligament Injuries, Tendinous Lesions around the knee (from tendinopathy to rupture), difficult primary knee arthroplasty, and improving flexion in knee arthroplasty. Dr. Philippe Landreau, Chief of Surgery and orthopaedic surgeon at ASPETAR, is also the Co-Chairman of this course since its start 8 years ago. Dr. Hakim Chalabi, Assistant Chief Medical Officer at ASPETAR and Executive Director of National Sport Medicine Program (NSMP), orchestrated a presentation about ASPETAR and NSMP. This presentation has generated a discussion and interest of the attendees who were impressed by the high and unique character of the project ASPETAR and NSMP. Dr. Philippe Landreau commented: “I am very happy that ASPETAR has demonstrated, once more, its involvement in the Education of high level, by participating in such renowned course. The partnership between ASPETAR and Advanced Knee Surgery Course was an additional value for ASPETAR. It will allow us to enlarge our network with the best knee and sports surgeons in the world.” ASPETAR has successfully supported similar events, evidenced by their support at the “4th AFC Conference on Science and Football Medicine” held in Malaysia in 2011 and the “Leader in Performance” presented in London last year.
