World and Olympic champions Mo Farah, Souleiman Ayanleh and the US sprint team in Aspetar. Doha, May 18th 2015- a significant number of athletics stars have chosen Aspetar, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine hospital for their treatment and preparations for this season and the World Championship which will be held in China from 22nd to 30th August 2015. In preparation for the sixth Doha Diamond League competition, which took place last Friday in Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar Sports Club, a significant number of the athletes came to Aspetar for a courtesy visit while some of them have decided to go through some check-ups. At the forefront of the visits was the US Sprint team: Allyson Felix, Kristi Castlin, Francena McCorory, Dawn Harper-Nelson and the Australian Sally Pearson, 100m world champion from Saint Kitts and Nevis Kim Collins, as well as a number of the long distance and a middle distance stars, such as the British Olympic double Gold medallist Mo Farah and 1500m world champion from Djibouti Souleiman Ayanleh. During their visit to the hospital, speed race stars of the US team were impressed by the hospital and the services it provides. World champion Allyson Felix 200m winner on Friday said:

"I enjoyed my visit to Aspetar, everything is excellent, it’s the dream of every athlete to be treated and to train here, I hope to have the opportunity to come again to prepare for the World Championships as well as for the Rio 2016 Olympics".

On her part, Kristi Castlin, 100m hurdles world and Olympic champion said during her visit to Aspetar on Tuesday:

"I visited Aspetar today, it is a masterpiece, I'm very excited to come back here and take advantage of the services in rehabilitation and all the outstanding medical services here, everything is beautiful and the staff of the hospital are very friendly, I look forward to returning here to prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and improve my fitness in the hope of getting a medal”.

A number of world and Olympic champions in long and middle distance have stayed in Aspetar’s Hypoxic (Altitude) Rooms in order to prepare for the Doha meeting on Friday, as well as preparation for the World Championships in August, led by the British two gold medallist Mo Farah, and world champion Souleiman Ayanleh from Djibouti under the supervision of the famous coach Adan Jama.

Souleiman Ayanleh, 800m winner on Friday said:

"I came to Aspetar to prepare for the World Championships and the Olympic Games with my coach Adan Jama and to take advantage from the Hypoxic (Altitude) rooms, thank you very much for all Aspetar staff; everything is available to serve the athletes."

British Mo Farah also expressed his satisfaction with his stay at the Hypoxic (Altitude) rooms, all the facilities available in one place and the medical team who is doing a great effort to help athletes to compete at their full potential. On the other hand, the French world champion of triple jump Teddy Tamgho sustained a rupture of the Achilles tendon on Friday during the Diamond League competition which required immediate intervention of Aspetar’s Medical team covering the tournament. Tamgho was brought to Aspetar where he underwent an urgent surgery led by Dr Pieter D‘Hooghe, he is convalescing currently in Aspetar. His country mate 3000m steeple silver medallist in London and Beijing Mahiedine Mekhissi is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme after a surgery at the Hospital where is taking benefit from an intensive rehabilitation care including physiotherapy, physical coaching and sports nutrition in addition to his stay at the Hypoxic (Altitude) rooms.
