Doha, Qatar (March 18, 2012) – Following the success of his previous surgery at Aspetar Qatar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, Ladji Doucouré recently returned for treatment in preparation for the upcoming London 2012 Summer Olympics. The French athletics star visited Qatar last month, 28th – 29th February, for a screening and training session at the world-renowned hospital, citing the vast knowledge and experience of the elite medical staff as a key reason for his return. Confident that Aspetar is the ideal place for him to prepare for the next summer Olympic Games, in London from 27th July to 12th August, 2012, the French star said that the current weather conditions in Doha are agreeable and will be beneficial to his training, as he had previously trained in the country for the World Championships in 2005. Describing Aspetar as one of the best global health clinics in the area the athlete pointed out that individuals are able to simultaneously receive treatment as well as maintain their fitness levels. Doucouré said, “Aspetar has everything you could ask for in one place. I can come here for two days and focus on rehabilitation as it provides a full sports medicine package, fully equipped rehabilitation gym, and an x-ray department,”. Dr. Hakim Chalabi, Assistant Chief Medical Officer of Aspetar and Executive Director, National Sports Medicine Program, said,
“Aspetar is attracting sports stars from all over the world, and Ladji is an individual who recognizes the world-class facilities and services offered by Aspetar.” Ladji Doucouré specializes in the 110m hurdles and 4x100m relay. He won a gold medal in each of these two categories in 2005 in Helsinki at the World Championships. Additionally, he won two gold medals in the 60m hurdles in Madrid in 2005 and in Torino in 2009 at the European Indoor Championships.
