Dr Sherman Jackson, King Faisal Chair of Islamic Thought and Culture, and Professor of Religion and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California (USC), presented a comprehensive lecture at Aspetar on Tuesday, 3 June. The discussion, which was entitled ‘Sports & Health: Islamic View’, was part of Aspetar’s ‘Exceptional Tuesday’ lecture series.
Dr Jackson is cited as one of the top Islamic scholars in America and was named among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center in Amman, Jordan and the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. He is also the author of several books, has featured on a number of leading blogs, and holds many board positions in several organisations.
