Doha, March 7, 2011: The president of the World Association of Chefs’ Societies commonly known as WACS, has applauded Aspetar, Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital’s catering division as being as good as five-star hotels. Not only was Chef Gissur Gudmundsson impressed with the sports medicine services provided but he also paid tribute to the staff at the Mosaico restaurant at Aspetar that uses a team of chefs, nutritionists and a medical team to serve its patients, athletes and staff. David Sosson, Mosaico’s executive chef said that the visit was aimed to see what is available in the State of Qatar in terms of nutrition, within the framework of a study on the future of the food industry within the next 20 years. "The President of the World Association of Chefs’ Society visited various hotels in Qatar and noticed there was no difference with the culinary services offered. He was impressed by the catering that exists within Aspetar”, said Chef David. The World Association of Chefs' Societies is a global network of chefs associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. At that first congress there were 65 delegates from 17 countries, representing 36 national and international associations. Today, this global body has 93 official chefs associations as members that represent over 10 million professional chefs worldwide. The biannual congress is a hallmark tradition of WACS and has been organized in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 82-year history.
