Khan was accompanied by his father and Mr. Yousuf Ali Al Kazim, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation, and was given a comprehensive tour of the hospital’s facilities, and briefed about the services it provides to the world’s elite athletes.
He was received by Director General Dr. Mohamed Ghaith Al-Kuwari and hospital officials, who presented an overview of the hospital’s history and the significant developments it has achieved in the fields of sports medicine and research.
Commenting on the tour, Khan said: “Aspetar is amazing; I have never seen anything like this. Everything an injured athlete could need is in one building that has the best machines and staff in sports medicine. I have also talked with a couple of doctors here, and they told me about how to prevent injury, how to fix yourself, how to become a better athlete. This is great for me to experience and learn about. We would definitely like to have a collaboration with Aspetar in the future”.
During the tour, Khan expressed his interest to conduct a training camp in Doha, and benefit from what Aspetar has to offer, which would help him maximize his competitive potential in the face of the rapidly developing world of boxing.
He concluded: “This is the first time I visit Doha, but it certainly will not be the last”.
