World Cup Alpine German skier Fritz Dopfer receives treatment in Aspetar

On the side-lines of his visit, Dopfer, the 2015 Slalom World Cup runner-up, praised Aspetar’s facilities, saying: “I know it’s a little unusual for a ski racer to come to Doha for rehab. A friend of mine knows Nicol van Dyk [a Clinical Sports Physiotherapist at Aspetar], who was able to arrange pre-treatment calls with Andreas Serner [a Sports Physiotherapist and Research Scientist at Aspetar], which enabled us to discuss the possible treatment options for me. After these calls I was confident that Aspetar’s staff and experts were the best ones to treat my injury.”

He added:

“I’m very happy with my decision to come here. I think [the hospital] is amazing, and the rehabilitation programme [designed for his specific injury] was perfect. I also had the chance to go around and inspect the facilities and they amazed me. I think they are unique.”

Aspetar boasts one of the most advanced medical departments in the region, which is integral to the hospital’s multidisciplinary approach to athlete management. Aspetar’s method focuses on assessment and treatment of injured athletes by implementing personalised injury treatment programmes.
