Prof. Hugh Fullagar is an award-winning researcher, scientist and educator, with expertise in evidence-based methods to improve performance and reduce injury. His recent research also seeks to further our understanding of humans' physiological interaction with the extremes of the environment, as well as establishing research and development (R&D) frameworks with partnering organizations. Hugh has worked with elite athletes in Europe, North America and Australia, including as an applied sport scientist and strength coach for the Oakland Raiders (NFL) and University of Oregon (NCAA Football). Prior to this, he worked with elite European football teams during his doctoral studies at a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence and Olympic Training Centre in Germany. Hugh also has extensive global leadership experience in the tertiary education sector, where he has most recently worked as Professor and Director of Postgraduate Programs at Reykjavik University (Iceland), and previously with the University of Technology Sydney and University of Wollongong (Australia). Hugh has led several partnerships with international sporting (NBA Global), occupational (Fire and Rescue NSW), and government (Defence Science and Technology Group) organizations, securing >$1 million in grant funding. He has authored >100 peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, and is an accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist (ESSA).
