Dr Maneera Al-Jaber is the Director of the Laboratory at the Anti-Doping Lab Qatar, where she also serves as a leading figure in research, scientific strategy and innovation. With over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience, she has established herself as a prominent voice in the fields of anti-doping science, substance use research, and genomics.
Dr Al-Jaber holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from the University of Bristol, where she developed a strong foundation in translational research. She began her scientific journey in the Genomics Core Laboratory at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, gaining hands-on experience in high-throughput genomic technologies and molecular diagnostics.
In 2013, she joined ADLQ as a Research Scientist and rapidly advanced through various roles due to her scientific insight and leadership capabilities. Her time at ADLQ has been marked by a focus on integrating genomic approaches into doping detection and exploring molecular biomarkers related to substance use and performance enhancement. This intersection of genomics and doping science is a niche field in which she has significantly contributed. Previously, Dr Al-Jaber also served as Head of the Laboratory at Naufar, Qatar’s national center for wellness and the treatment of substance use disorders. Her work there further deepened her expertise in clinical toxicology and addiction science, reinforcing her multidisciplinary approach to laboratory medicine and research.
Dr Al-Jaber has authored a number of peer-reviewed scientific publications in high-impact journals, including Nature Communications, Nature Biotechnology, Drug Testing and Analysis, and Metabolites, reflecting her strong academic and research credentials. As Director of the Laboratory at ADLQ, she continues to lead innovative projects at the intersection of sports science, public health, and molecular medicine.
