MoU encompasses collaboration in the treatment of pediatric sports related injuries.
Doha, Qatar, 24 March, 2015 — Aspetar, Qatar’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital and Sidra Medical and Research Centre (Sidra), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) around establishing a partnership between the two organizations. The MoU was signed by Aspetar’s Director General, Dr. Khalifa Al Kuwari and Sidra’s Executive Vice Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Abdulla Al Kaabi.
The MoU will encompass collaboration in the provision of healthcare services for treating pediatric sports related injuries. This initiative shall be launched at Aspetar utilizing the highly skilled healthcare workforce of Sidra, who will expand the range of services currently provided at Aspetar to include pediatric services.
Services include pediatric orthopedic surgery limited to sports related injuries, screening of younger athletes and other related allied health services within Aspetar’s scope of services. A team of Sidra healthcare professionals including physicians, allied health professionals and nurses will be credentialed and privileged to provide patient care at Aspetar. This agreement is a foundation for a fully integrated and collaborative referral system between both organizations in the future.
On this occasion, Dr. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of Aspetar said,

We always aim to raise the level of healthcare services across Qatar, and partnerships of this nature and coordinated planning align with the goals and objectives of the National Health Strategy 2011-2016 and the Qatar National Vision 2030.” In addition, teams from both organizations will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise through seminars, workshops, conferences and collaborative research for continuous professional development.
