03/10/2011 12:00 AM (Doha, Qatar: 3 October 2011) Aspetar Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital is backing one of the sport’s most prestigious events, Leaders in Performance, set to be held in London from October 5-6, as a major partner. As part of the partnership, Aspetar will be hosting an exclusive symposium, featuring presentations from a panel of international experts that includes speakers from Aspetar. Central to the Aspetar symposium will be cardiology in sport particularly Aspetar’s philosophy, proven methodology, and results from cardiovascular screening. In addition there will be presentations on cardiomyopathy and whether an appropriate diagnostic algorithm has been developed to ensure the athletes health is protected. Having been expanded to run for two days in 2011, LIP will bring together elite coaches, managers, sporting directors, technical directors and performance directors from around the world. Last year saw 280 professionals from 25 countries across 22 different sports attend. Aspetar has successfully supported this type of event previously, evidenced by their support at the 4th AFC Conference on Science and Football Medicine held in Malaysia earlier this year.
