Doha, Qatar (March 25, 2015) – Aspetar held a signing ceremony with the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) in Doha, which extended their existing partnership for the fifth consecutive year, on Wednesday, March 25. The agreement aims to provide medical support on and off the field to the Algerian national team.
The agreement was first established in 2010 and stipulated that Aspetar would provide medical services to the Algerian national team, including comprehensive medical examinations of all the players. The Aspetar medical team accompanied the Algerian squad to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil the sole representatives of the Arab world, as well as to training camps around the globe.
Commenting on the collaboration, Aspetar Chief Operating Officer and DG representative Mr Ibrahim Al Darwish said,
“We are very proud to renew our agreement with the Algerian Football Federation for the fifth consecutive year to comply with the renewable requirements in the field of sports medicine, and we affirm today by strengthening this partnership, our commitment to provide the widest available range of expertise and capabilities".
He added:” The Algerian national team is the only team that reached the second round of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil intact of any injuries, which pays tribute to the joint efforts exerted during the four years of work in the provision of medical and preventive services by Aspetar.”.
Through this partnership Aspetar will allow the doctors and physiotherapist of the FAF to be seconded to Aspetar to understudy Aspetar’s Sports medicine physicians on the best practices for the development of their own skills and expertise as well as provide ongoing support of the Algerian national team through medical consultation and conditioning support in agreed competitions and games.
Aspetar experts will also grant the priority of treatment in the hospital to the Algerian national team players.
Aspetar will determinate the training needs of the FAF, and support through training sessions, workshops, lectures and conferences held in the hospital.
Aspetar will assist the development of sports medicine centre in the national Football centre in Algiers by developing the areas such as: Sports Medicine including sports science, Physiotherapy and rehabilitation of all sports injuries, Athlete medical screening, Athlete performance monitoring and analysis and Athlete health education.
Aspetar has been a strategic partner for the FAF and the Algerian National team is the best Arab and African team in the monthly FIFA ranking.
It has been also the only representative of the Arabs in the FIFA World Cup in the past two editions. In Brazil they reached the second round of the FIFA World Cup and went out of the tournament with difficulty after losing in overtime against the German team who finally won the world title.
