Role Purpose: 

Perform research projects on the use of High-Density EMG in rehabilitation and training to diagnose and assess muscle function.
 

 Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Develop research projects under the supervision of the head of research including, but not limited to:
    • Obtain the nessessary scientific and ethics approval.
    • Perform data collection in accordance to the best laboratory standard (e.g. ensure that equipment is calibrated and maintained as per manufacturer’s recommendations prior to each testing session, perform pilot testing, etc.).
    • Comply with Aspetar regulation (e.g. safety).
    • Enter data into appropriate programmes for subsequent statistical analysis.
    • Perform analyses and interpretation.
    • Publish scientific literature as well as translate research into practice.
  • Develop the protocols for HD EMG assessment, maintain and upgrade its equipment.
  • Assist in data collection with other research projects involving HD EMG.

 

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

  • 3-5 years of university experience in which a minimum of 1 years should be in research.
  • Implementation of 1 previous research project in the area of HD EMG
  • Experience in statistics/Matlab/R coding biosignal processing would be an asset.
     

Education and Certification requirements:

  • Master degree or equivalent
  • Planning to enroll or being enrolled in a PhD would be an asset.
     

Job specific technical Skills

  • Experience in testing athletes/patients would be an asset.
  • Experience in HD EMG assessment and data processing (e.g. conduction velocity/recruitment patterns) would be an asset.

Role Purpose: 

Perform research projects on heat therapy and other therapeutic interventions improving neuromuscular functions in injured or immobilized athletes.
 

 Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Develop research projects under the supervision of the head of research including, but not limited to:
    • Obtain the nessessary scientific and ethics approval.
    • Perform data collection in accordance to the best laboratory standard (e.g. ensure that equipment is calibrated and maintained as per manufacturer’s recommendations prior to each testing session, perform pilot testing, etc.).
    • Comply with Aspetar regulation (e.g. safety).
    • Enter data into appropriate programmes for subsequent statistical analysis.
    • Perform analyses and interpretation.
    • Publish scientific litterature as well as translate research into practice.
  • Develop the research therapy clinic, maintain and upgrade its equipment, (co-)supervise sessions of heat/cold/therapy exposures.
  • Assist in data collection with other research projects.
  • Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

 

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

  • 3-5 years of university experience in which a minimum of 1 years should be in research.
  • Implementation of 1 previous research project in the area of heat therapy or similar therapies for restoring muscle function.

Role Purpose: 

To provide comprehensive world-class medical care for the youth players of the Qatar National Football Team.
 

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

Clinical: Maximize player performance through high quality illness and injury management. Provide immediate care and long-term supervision towards the optimal physical restoration of any health or musculoskeletal issues of the football players under the National Team's responsibility.

Managerial: Supervise the medical staff to achieve and maintain the excellence in the quality of care provided to players when the National Football teams participate in events, tournaments, competitions within Qatar or abroad. Undertake the Performance Review system to promote personal and service developments.

Educational: Produce projects annually to promote service development and / or personnel development regarding First Aid procedures and different on field medical situations.

Decisions & Judgement: Offer clinical advice and guidance to staff within the National Teams Medical Services Unit. Provide relevant clinical diagnosis and medical decisions best suited for the players.

Reports to: The First Team Doctor & Medical Director of the National Teams Medical Services Unit

 

Necessary Knowledge and Experience:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Elite Football
  • Experience with First Team and in youth player care
  • Expert knowledge of trauma, musculoskeletal injuries, and medical conditions affecting football players
  • Fundamental knowledge of emergency care regarding sporting events

 

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Post-graduate degree or diploma in Sports Medicine (preferably a Master’s degree)
  • Emergency Pitch side qualification
  • Eligible to obtain Physician license from Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP)
  • Specialty Board registration (preferable)

Role Purpose: 

Conduct laboratory and/or clinical research that utilise Aspetar’s infrastructure to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of sports medicine, recovery from injuries, return to play. Serves the Hospital’s aim of assisting athletes to achieve their maximal potential through injury prevention, faster return to play and improved performance.

He/she will work under a direct supervisor reporting to the Head of research and the Director of Research office to ensure all research tasks are completed professionally and efficiently.

 

 Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Fulfil all administrative and organisational duties related to research projects, including defining the study design, ethics application, participant recruitment and responsibility over research documentation.
  • Ensure assessment, inclusion and follow-up of the recruited subjects/patients.
  • Implement and, if necessary, validate the required scientific methods for the research project.
  • Assure data collection and management for the assigned study (verify accuracy; ensure integrity, security of data).
  • Perform statistical analysis supported by the scientific and statistical staff of the Research department.
  • Prepare articles for international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in the continuous scientific education of Aspetar by attending lectures and giving presentations.
  • Responsible for regular equipment calibration in accordance to manufacturer recommendations, plus first-line maintenance of equipment.
  • Serve as a resource person for specialized skills in their area of expertise, providing support, consultation and counselling to all level of researchers.

Role Purpose: 

  • Provide for the well-being of individual athletes - enabling each to realize his/her full potential.
  • Should possess special proficiency in the care of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions encountered in sports.
  • Must ultimately assume responsibility within the team structure for making medical decisions that affect the athlete's safe participation. 
  • Will provide on field services for the club teams and work in close relationship with the multidisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive package of care to athletes. Act as a primary referrer to Aspetar in the care of sports medicine-related cases.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

Duties:

  • Provides primary care to registered athletes in sports clubs/federations assigned to “Club/Federation Doctor” in adherence to Aspetar approved clinical practice guidelines. This includes the evaluation, treatment plan and follow up as appropriate.
  • Maintain optimal health and maximize peak performance of athletes.
  • Assist athletes of any age, professional or amateur, in any sport.
  • Diagnose, provide treatment and prevent injuries that occur during sports and physical activities as a medical physician. 
  • Provide both long-term and immediate supervision for the physical restoration of individuals.
  • Ensure the necessary dietary patterns to athletes is delivered to maximize performance, prevent disease and improve health.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
  • Maintain patient/athlete documentation, records in the EMR and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards and to ensure the service is monitored and evaluated.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to all relevant disciplines of staff to maximize athlete care and promote multidisciplinary team working.
  • Communicate and formulate recommendations to the nominated club officials and technical staff regarding athletes’ physical and health condition, progress, prognosis and sports activities participation abilities.
  • Contribute to and ensure the Implementation of ASPETAR approved clinical practice guidelines within the clinic to optimize athlete’s care.
  • Responsible for medical coverage for sporting events in their assigned club/federation. 
  • Adhere to and actively promote the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) principles and regulations with regard to the use of Drugs in Sport. Abide by the spirit and letter of the WADA Code, and the ASPETAR/NSMP Anti-Doping Position Statement
  • Participate in weekly case review meetings to review and optimize care to club/federations athletes.
  • Provide quarterly training on CPR and First Aid to all staff in clinic.  Training report for all staff to be provided to the Medical Director.
  • Proactively seek to propose ideas to improve services within the club/federation clinic.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize their own patient caseload.
  • Update annually in all the required areas of Mandatory training.
  • Carry out any duties as may be reasonably required by the Club/Federation Clinic Director to ensure the effective and efficient running of the Club/Federation Clinic.
  • Participate in Sports Medicine in-service training and if necessary, lead team in-service training to promote personnel development.
  • Assist the clinic director in coordinating club/federation medical clinic educational activities.
  • Deliver relevant clinical education to multidisciplinary staff (e.g. Medication management, infection control and other safety practices that impact on athlete and staff health).
  • Maintain annual mandatory and core competencies relevant to the position
  • Plan for and participate in continuing education and training relevant and applicable to scope of practice, in order to fulfil CME/QCHP requirements to ensure Medical license retention (as per QCHP) and to maintain professional knowledge and clinical competence
  • Participate in the Performance Development system to promote personal and service developments.

 

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

  • 9-11 years of related experience of which a minimum of 3-6 years should be in similar position.
  • The Club/Federation doctor must meet MOPH medical licensing criteria in Qatar, and to practice within their scope pf practice determined by MOPH/QCHP.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a fundamental knowledge of emergency care regarding sporting events
  • Have a working knowledge of trauma, musculoskeletal injuries, and medical conditions affecting the athlete
  • Additional training in sports medicine

 

Education and Certification requirements:

  • Have an MD or DO in good standing, with an unrestricted license to practice medicine.
  • Master’s degree in Sports Medicine or formal training in sports medicine (fellowship training, board recognized subspecialty in sports medicine [formerly known as a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine])
  • To be trained in CPR and First Aid.
  • Specialty Board certification
  • Training in advanced cardiac life support desirable.

Role Purpose

To ensure that the dental units are maintained at a ready- to-use state at all times. He/she shall ensure compliance with professional standards, safety regulations and controls to enable delivery of the highest standard of clinical and patient services.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

  • Escort patient from the waiting area to the dental treatment room.
  • Prepare patient for dental treatment.
  • Assist patient in answering their questions, alleviating anxieties and in providing advice and directions as authorised by the dentist.
  • Provide chair-side assistance to the dentists such as passing or holding of instruments, preparation of materials, etc.
  • Ensure all instruments and equipments are in good condition and prepared for use by the dentist before each consultation.
  • Ensure the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Aspetar / Sport Dentistry Department Policies as well as Qatari regulations, where applicable.
  • Take X-Rays for patients, while obtaining appropriate X-Rays Licensing.
  • Check patient medical history information is up to date and advise the dentists of any problems he/she has noted.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and proper filing of patient records and test results. Maintains a list of all Dental Department patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the Dentists in ensuring that patient records and documents are accurately completed and filed.
  • Communicate appropriately and sensitively with patients who may be fearful, vulnerable, have sensitive concerns or have special needs i.e. physical and learning difficulties, elderly, deaf, or blind.
  • Chart and update patients’ records on the computer as necessary, and assist the dentists in the completion of records.
  • Update patient finance records on the computer system.
  • Monitor and maintain stocks within the dental surgery as necessary, informing the senior dental assistant and liaising with the dentists over necessary orders, and warning of any shortages of materials in the clinic.
  • Report equipment failures or breakages to the senior dental nurse, so that action may be taken to remedy any defects.
  • To make certain that an efficient link with the dental laboratory is upheld to prevent delays in the dispatch and receipt of lab work.
  • Perform check on the dental laboratory to ensure that all dental impressions are properly cast in stone and that all patient models are kept in boxes and correctly labelled.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions and applicable dental policies and protocols.
  • Maintain all department areas in compliance with the following directives: (1) Hospital Policies e.g. infection control, patient safety, (2) Dental Department policies and protocols.
  • Participate in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities.
  • Participate in a continuance education programme or educational seminar as per HR policy. He/she shall be responsible for identifying relevant courses and events for his/her own skills upgrading.
  • Assist the receptionist on an exigency basis if not otherwise needed by the dentist.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3-5 years of dental experience of which a minimum of 1 year should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Institute.
  • Diploma Certificate in Dental Assistant
  • Dental Assistant license from the country of origin and approved by SHC in Qatar.

Role Purpose:

To provide direct clinical care, which encompasses orthopedic physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and management of patients within the department.

key accountabilities & activities:

Duties following a induction and orientation period:

  • Act independently, with support of a Senior Physiotherapist, to assess, analyze and provide a clinical assessment for individual patients to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention.
  • Act independently, with support of a Senior Physiotherapist to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximize rehabilitation potential across a range of orthopedic conditions.
  • Advance treatment progression of patients with the support of a Senior Physiotherapist as needed.
  • Independently manage a caseload of patients effectively and efficiently, with the support of a Senior Physiotherapist as needed.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice in the department at a basic level (ex. Participate in protocol reviews).

Role Purpose:

Assists in the development and articulation of research projects aimed at improving health, wellness, and recovery from injury in athletes and high-performance support staff and participate in the assessment of health-related aspects using qualitative and quantitative approaches.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

  • Participate and organize data collection processes, information technology applications, and computer systems storage/retrieval strategies.
  • Lead, participate and coordinate planning and execution of research projects and proposals writing.
